The Merger of bigshots

There are rumours in the market that two bigshots of the consulting world, AT Kearney and Booz are in merger talks.

Last year, AT Kearney had revenue of $786 million with 2700 employees and 240 partners, spread over 37 countries. Booz had revenue of $1 billion with 3300 employees and 200 partners, spread over 33 countries. If the merger falls into place, then the new firm is touted to be the third largest consulting firm after Mckinsey and BCG, with an expected annual revenue of $2 billion.

Experts believe that AT Kearney's supply chain and operations competency will add value to Booz. Both the firms will benefit considering the importance of scale in the world of consulting which helps firms cater to the ever-increasing diverse demands of the client. Also, this will give them a chance to offer very strong competition to the larger firms: Mckinsey, BCG and Bain.

But considering that there has been no confirmation from either side, this could all be just speculation. We will know soon, though as we all know, there can be no smoke without fire, so something must be brewing somewhere.
